Girls' Empowerment & Community Leadership

Guaranteeing equal access, menstrual dignity resources, dedicated female boarding facilities, and leadership mentorship for young women.

With dedicated girls' boarding, students can study in the evenings instead of carrying out domestic chores at home. We have seen the number of girls at the school increase as a result of these facilities.

Our guidance, counselling, girls' empowerment programmes, clubs, and leadership initiatives support social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Key actions

  • Menstrual dignity and health kits: training staff and students to make reusable sanitary products on campus, supplying hygiene products, and running a hardship fund (£900 (GHS 13,932 · €1,058) a year) for girls who arrive with no supplies.
  • Private washing and drying facilities: secure, private areas with dry lines, so no one needs to dry personal items on the ground.
  • Safe residential boarding: secure, well-equipped female boarding under dedicated housemistresses.
  • Girls' leadership and mentorship: empowerment circles (including the Belle's Belles club), public speaking training, and career mentoring by staff, alumni and visiting volunteers.
  • The Sustainable Futures Centre (capital priority, £35,000–£70,000 (GHS 541,800–1,083,600 · €41,125–82,250)): space for vocational pad-tailoring, counselling, creative arts and exchange lodging.

Core impact metrics

  • More than 50% of students are girls, maintained across all academic levels
  • Zero school days missed by boarders due to lack of menstrual hygiene products
  • 100% equal access for young women in student government, clubs and STEM tracks
