Wioso Senior High School

Built in 2015 to enable young people to access secondary education when previously they had to travel 15km.

Wioso Senior High School began as a single classroom block. We have since added further classrooms, a girls' boarding house, a boys' boarding house, and a new kitchen and food-storage facility. Further classrooms with a dedicated science lab, computer lab and a home economics room are now needed. We have capacity for up to 600 students in our dormitories, but the classrooms are now full with the current 500 students. The school was developed in an area where previously there was no educational provision beyond primary level and young people had to travel 15km.

All of the school's electricity is currently generated by solar panels on site. An upgrade to that system is needed as we grow, and our plans include an additional classroom level, a computer lab, a science lab, a home economics room, and improved sports facilities.

Students are given breakfast, a hot lunch and, for those who board, a hot dinner. Around 60% of the produce we use now comes from our own farm.
