World Menstrual Health Hygiene Day

On 28th May 2024 the WIOSO Senior High School, local senior schools and local community came together to celebrate and raise awareness for World Menstrual Health Hygiene Day. With support from Alma Mater Education and the Toni Garrn Foundation the students raised awareness around good menstrual health hygiene, educating themselves, their peers and the local community on the fundamental role it plays in enabling girls and women to reach their full potential. The campaign which will continue with community activities through the year was kickstarted with workshops on good sanitation and hygiene, use of affordable and appropriate menstrual health hygiene materials and work to create a supportive environment, free of embarrassment or stigma. Students learnt about how to make sustainable hygiene products including reusable pads and pants, work that will continue through the year through school and community projects linking the production and access to female hygiene products to livelihood and income generation
