The School Meal Programme
Our school is situated in an area that experiences a considerable dry season, during which families often have to cut down on their meals to ration food. It is vitally important that pupils are not hungry when trying to study, which is why we place a huge emphasis on providing school meals.
All staff and students are given breakfast and a hot, nutritious lunch every school day. Those who board also get a hot dinner each evening. Currently about 60% of the produce we use comes from our farm, and we are constantly working towards full self-sufficiency.
Good quality food
Every day our wonderful team of four chefs feed our school of 350 students three meals a day. Utilising food from the school farm and donations from the Ghana Education System (GES) every child is set up for learning by three nutritious and well balanced meals a day.
Our Farm
The school’s organic farm has become an integral part of the project in recent years, primarily for the provision of fresh produce for our school-meals programme and home-economics department, but also more recently by raising vital revenue for the charity by adopting a more commercial approach to the use of its land.
